A: No.  We take each student through our process according to their ability, regardless of their age. We tailor their training to suit their needs. 

Q: I have an old injury/tricky shoulder/bad knee; can I still benefit from taking class? 
A: YES. We are happy to work around any physical issues a person might have. We help everyone learn and train at their own pace. 

Q: Will I get beat up in class? 
A: No. Our goal is to help students learn, not to prove how tough we are by beating up the new folks. Sparring drills and combinations are taught and any sparring is controlled and supervised.

In our Kung Fu Program at Jade Mountain Martial Arts students learn traditional Kung Fu techniques and forms (including traditional weapons), striking skills (basic through advanced), effective self-defense skills, and correct exercise technique and methodology.

Form and Function.  The JMMA Kung Fu program is a combination of traditional, old school Kung Fu combined with modern self defense and training techniques.  This way, you get the best of both worlds!   As we like to say, it's "Ancient Arts with a Modern Approach".

Students learn traditional Kung Fu techniques and forms (including traditional weapons), striking skills (basic through advanced), effective self-defense skills, and correct exercise technique and methodology.

In the Kung Fu class, you will begin to challenge your body and mind as you enjoy an exciting workout, followed by skills training. You will learn Mantis Kung Fu, Krav Maga self-defense, boxing, kickboxing, and Tai Chi.

Want to lose some weight and get in shape? Our Adult Kung Fu class will make that happen!

Classes are fun and informative, and our family atmosphere is comfortable for most everyone. We are a small, family school, so you'll get lots of one-on-one attention from our instructors.

Our workouts are structured so that beginners who have never trained before can work out right next to experienced students, and everyone trains and learns at their own pace. From classical kung fu to quick and effective self-defense, you'll love our classes!

What Can You Expect on Your First Kung Fu Class at  Jade Mountain Martial Arts ?
During your first class, you'll be greeted warmly and guided on exactly what will be happening so that you won't feel out of place.  

You will be introduced to the instructors, shown how to salute and bow properly, and given a tour of our training facility. 

When the class begins, you will do the same salute and bow, then the class will warm up together using basic, easy to perform movements. 

After the warm up, an instructor will work personally with you on your first techniques (punching, kicking, blocking, etc).  This insures that you are off to a great start on your martial arts journey!

Kung fu/Kungfu or Gung fu/Gongfu is a Chinese term referring to any study, learning, or practice that requires patience, energy, and time to complete. In its original meaning, kung fu can refer to any discipline or skill achieved through hard work and practice, not necessarily martial arts. The Chinese literal equivalent of "Chinese martial art" would be "wushu"

It is only in the late twentieth century, that the term "Kung Fu" was used in relation to Chinese martial arts by the Chinese community.  In the Western popular culture, the term "Kung fu" is often erroneously used as an umbrella term when specifically referring to Chinese martial arts.
