It's not the years...it's the hours that make the difference.
Instructor Mark Dong has been practicing martial arts for over 12 years. He has trained in other styles such as Kajukenbo, where he is a 2nd degree black belt, and American Kenpo where he is a purple belt. He has competed and coached with the Texas State University – San Marcos Karate team where he fought his way to the top and won the US Championships for Kata in 1992. He was also the Vice-President of the Karate Club while training in San Marcos.
As a member of Jade Mountain , he has competed in various Chinese Martial Arts tournaments and has won gold medals for empty hand forms and for staff. Si Hing Mark Dong has found a home with us and is a true mixed martial artist, with a wide variety of skills including Kung Fu, San Shou Kickboxing, Chen Taiji, Submission Grappling, Chinese Weaponry, and Krav Maga.
It wasn’t until he attended an Introduction to Krav Maga seminar with Eyal Yanilov, the Chief Instructor of the International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF), which made him pursue his interest in Krav Maga. Mark started his training in Krav Maga shortly afterwards under Instructor Larry Escher. After a lot of hard work and dedication, Larry recommended that Mark become an instructor and attend the intense Civilian Instructor’s Course (CIC). Upon successfully completing the course, Mark became a Certified Instructor under the watchful eyes of Gabi Noah and Avi Moyal. Gabi and Avi are two of the four masters in the world for the IKMF and Mark is certified by them.
Mark continues to teach Krav Maga as well as teaching and learning other martial arts as well.
